Ok... Let's get down to the basic facts about what self storage
really means today!
Self storage offers both personal and business users a storage
solution that they can pretty much control themselves. As opposed to
earlier, more "traditional" storage methods, self-storage allows you, the
renter to keep goods and belongings in specialized facilities that are
secure, environmental controlled and easy to access – no more frustrating
rules and regulations, limited access, or long term contracts with rates
that are through the roof. With the evolution of self-storage facilities,
we've been given a lot more choice. It's "Do It Yourself" storage at a
cost far less than large storage companies could ever offered.
The evolution of self-storage began with the realization that many
consumers and businesses need more control over what, where, when and how
they store their personal & business items [omit: the self-storage
industry has evolved into a cost-effective, flexible and secure storage
alternative]. Now the self-storage space you rent is self-contained, fully
enclosed and can vary in size according to your specific needs & budgets.
From a space as small as a closet, to a unit large enough to store your
car, your boat, the entire contents of your apartment, house or more,
Peninsula Self-Storage has you covered.
This is an incredibly flexible & reliable storage alternative. You
can choose to store pretty much anything you like in the space size that
fits your needs, for as long or as short as you deem necessary (within the
limitations of the contract which typically exclude banned or hazardous
materials). Unlike traditional storage methods, self-storage allows you to
access your storage space free of charge at any time (subject to the
facilities opening & closing times). This means that not only can you
easily access what you have stored, but you can take parts of it out and
replace it with other items with no hassle, no waiting and at no
additional cost - that is priceless! In many cases you can simply drive up
to your self-storage unit, park your car or truck, enter the secure area
and access your belongings with no hassle, no long lines or waiting. You
can even change the size of your storage space according to your changing
needs. And, unlike traditional storage methods of the past, you'll know
that your self-storage unit will stay where it is, your belongings will
not be moved around by the storage provider unbeknown to you, nor will
they be subject to damage through mishandling by careless workers or
accidental damage.
If you're considering using a self-storage facility, the first
thing you'll notice is that it's up to you to get your items to the
self-storage facility, pack your goods into the space provided and,
ultimately, move it out (although some companies offer fee-based removal
service and packing services including moving trucks, dollies & hand truck
rentals). On the plus side, this allows you to pack your storage space in
the way that best suits your needs so that you can easily access your
items without having to unload the entire contents of your unit. Most
facilities will offer for sale; boxes, packing supplies like tape, bubble
wrap, locks and many other helpful items & tips to ensure your moving &
storage experience is a safe and pleasant one.
Most self storage agreements can usually be cancelled at a moments
notice. Although you may be asked to pay a deposit and weekly or monthly
rental charges up front, when you cancel your agreement you'll generally
find that most self storage facilities will be willing to refund you any
time you haven't used. Keep in mind, self-storage facilities do not
charging you to access your storage space - unlike traditional storage
companies who typically charge and require advance notice whenever the
need arises for you to access your belongings.
Self storage is also a secure solution to storage needs. In most
cases, the storage unit you rent can only be accessed by the renter. You
will be the only authorized key holder, unless you appoint additional key
holders, which will be listed on your agreement. In most cases, you'll be
expected to provide your own lock for your space (which may be available
for sale at the facility), giving you the extra guarantee of security. In
addition, reputable self-storage facilities will have a range of their own
security measures in place - these can include TV monitors, guards and a
wide variety of alarm systems that are generally monitored at a central
location within the facility. Most facilities even control and monitor the
environment including temperature & humidity.
As the self-storage industry has evolved, so has the range of
services being offered at their facilities. Larger self-storage facilities
have just started to offer business services that include the renting of
office space, administrative services, secretarial & phone services,
conference and meeting areas and toilets, some even have showers!
Only time will tell how far self-storage facilities will evolve,
but one thing’s for certain – it’s only going to get better! |
